Heroes Reborn
Heroes Reborn is a label of gathering Marvel Comics: Four Fantastic (Fantastic Furnace), the Avengers (Avengers), Iron Man and Captain America between November 1996 and October 1997.
History
Origin
Following a fall of the sales and with a disinterest of the public, the crossover Onslaught (1996) was to make it possible to start again characters other than coming from titles X (X-Men, Wolverine…) and Spider-Man. Following the crossover, the heroes like the Four Fantastic ones and the Avengers were regarded as having died during the final fight against Onslaught.Actually, thanks to the capacities of Franklin Richards, they were projected in another universe created by Franklin. The goal was to be able to rewrite a new version of the four titles all while being based on their own continuity. Contrary to the line Ultimate Marvel where the authors could reinvent their origins and their stories since the beginning, with Heroes Reborn, they it could not. One took again the original stories of the titles in order to rewrite them and to modernize them, knowing that the experiment was to last only one year (even if certain decision makers hoped to make of it a line with whole share of regular titles).
Leading life
The series were started again under the name of Iron Man volume 2, Fantastic Four volume 2, Avengers volume 2…These four titles were entrusted to two studios of Image Comics the editor in vogue of the moment, rested by former artists of Marvel.
- the Fantastic Four and Iron Man were entrusted to the studio of Jim Lee, Wildstorm.
- Captain America and the Vengeurs were entrusted to Rob Liefeld and its Extreme Studio.
Of the four titles, the Fantastic Four drawn by Jim Lee was best accommodated. The bad sales and the direction taken of the titles managed by Liedfeld pushed Marvel to entrust the two titles of Extreme to Wildstorm.
This restarting of the titles was badly accommodated by the fans. Normally, this line was to become an official line with not-limited series but that lasted only one year in spite of the excellent sales on behalf of the titles managed by Jim Lee. There were only twelve numbers of each and thirteenth having to be used as Crossover between the titles Heroes Reborn and the Wildstorm universe.
This saga ended with Heroes Return , seeing the return of the heroes on their original ground where they were believed dead.
