Hero of Resistance
The Héros of Resistance is a series of twenty-two stamps commmoratifs emitted by the French post office of 1957 with 1961. She honors twenty-six resistant dead during the Occupation with the France between 1940 and 1945 (except Edmond Debeaumarché died in 1959).
Among the twenty-six resistant ones, two are of the catholic monks and three are women.
Description
Even if the stamps were drawn and engraved by various artists, they preserve a similar page layout. Each one represents the portrait of resistant surrounded by two vertical beams of corn, a color different from the mentions and beams. Into high the mention “Hero of Resistance appears”. The facial value is with the bottom of the portrait on the right; then the names and dates of the characters are given, then the name of the country “French Republic - Stations”.
Series
The stamps are presented per year and order ascending of the facial values. If the draftsman and the engraver are two different people, the first figure on the line top.
Series of 1957
The five stamps of the first series are emitted on May 20th, 1957 and withdrawn from the sale the next on September 14th. Their postal uses change with the modification of the tariffs on July 1st, 1957.
Series of 1958
The four stamps of the second series are emitted on April 21st, 1958 and withdrawn from the sale the next on October 18th.
Series of 1959
The five stamps of the third series are emitted on April 27th, 1959 and withdrawn from the sale the next on September 18th.This series includes/understands the only stamp honouring five resistant at the same time: five Martyrs of the Buffon college: Jean Arthus, Jacques Baudry, Pierre Benoit, Pierre Grelot and Lucien Legros.
Series of 1960
The five stamps of the fourth series are emitted on March 28th, 1960 and withdrawn from the sale the next on September 10th.
Series of 1961
The last four stamps of the series Héros of Resistance are emitted on April 24th, 1961 and withdrawn from the sale the next on October 14th.
Other stamps
Several stamps will be emitted then on the High Spot of Resistance.In June 1993 two titrated stamps are emitted himself-holding “Martyrs of resistance” and “Hero of resistance”. They represent children on a Bas-relief of the sculptor Jeanclos, marked by the massacres of the Second world war.
