Hernández Oscar

Oscar Hernández (born the March 22nd 1954 with Manhattan, New York) is a Pianiste and producer/arangor of music (Salsa mainly).

The family of Hernandez Oscar had emigrated of Puerto Rico in the United States in the years 1940, in the South of the Bronx, Ghetto strongly populated by latinos in New York.

He attended clubs where played Ray Barretto, Eddie Palmieri and Richie Ray. After the tragic death of one of his brothers of a Overdose of Drug, it leaves the Ghetto. In 1966, he learned the Trompette. Two years after somebody to his brother a Piano gave, and he learned how to play about it.

Oscar Hernandez started to play in some local groups, of which Joey Pastrana and Conquistadora. In 1972, he played with Ismael Miranda then with Ray Barretto and the jazzmen Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. After six years spent with Barretto, it joined the group of Ruben Blades.

Hernandez fitted in the Université of the town of New York where it obtained a license of music. Hernandez played with Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Julio Iglesias, Juan Luis Guerra, Willie Colon, Oscar Of Leon… It also produced discs for Ruben Blades, Willie Colon, Daniel Ponce, Rafaël Dejesus, Eddie Torres and Phil Hernandez.

Hernandez founded and directed the Spanish Harlem Orchestra after having met Erin Levinson, a Music producer in Contrat with Warner Bros. The group received a Grammy in 2002 for the " better album of Salsa" , Billboard Award in 2003 for " the album of Salsa of the année" and in 2005 Grammy for the " better album of Salsa".
