Hermann de Hainaut

Hermann , died towards 1051, was count de Mons and of the mériodionale part of the the Brabant of 1039 with 1051 and marquis of Valencian of 1048/1049 with 1051. It was wire of Régnier  V, count de Mons, and of Mathilde de Verdun.

In 1046, it is combined with Godefroy II of Low-Lotharingie and in Baudouin V against the emperor and his Richilde wife, who would have preferred an alliance with the emperor, tried to make it imprison by Wazon, bishop of Liege, but this last refused. In 1048/1049, with died of his/her father-in-law Régnier de Hasnon (and thanks to the hereditary rights of its wife Richilde de Egisheim), it obtains the margraviat Valencian , making it possible to reconstitute Hainaut completely.

Hermann died in 1051. Its widow married the future count Baudouin VI of Flanders and drew aside her children of the succession, by making them enter in religion.

Marriage and children

He had married towards 1040 Richilde, probably resulting from the counts d' Egisheim and Dagsbourg. They had:
  • Roger († 1093), bishop of Châlons on the Marne
  • Gertrude become nun about Saint-Beno4it cheese.
