Hermann Scherchen

Hermann Scherchen was born on June 21st, 1891 with Berlin and died on June 12th, 1966 with Florence.

It was leader, altist, Compositeur and musical Arrangeur German.

He was a defender of the music of his time (Webern, Varèse, Hartmann), but also directed Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Mahler and other type-setters of the great German repertory.

Of communist sensitivity, it was adverse with the Nazism and left Germany since 1933 for Belgium, then Switzerland where it is established.

After the War, it was divided between Switzerland, Germany and Italy, where it continued a career of teacher and leader all while being devoted to the composition.

Its most known arrangement is that of the Art of the running away of Bach. It is also the first to have directed an integral of the London symphonies of Haydn.
