Hermann II of Bade (Hermann II von Baden) (* towards 1074 - † October 7th 1130) of the Brisgau of 1074 with was count 1130 and the first Margrave of Bade of 1112 with 1130.

Wire of Hermann Ier de Brisgau (*? - † 1074), count of Breisgau and margrave of Vérone, and Judith de Backnang-Sulichgau (*? - † 1091).

Hermann II of Bade married Judith d' Hohenberg (* towards 1085 - † 1121).

Biography

Towards 1070, Hermann II of Bade ordered the construction of the castle of Hohenbaden on the ruins of the embankment of an old Celtic construction. When the castle was finished in 1112, Hermann took the title of " margrave de Bade". The castle was destroyed by a fire at the 16th century.

Dice 1123, Hermann II made finish the abbey of Backnang, monastery about the regular Chanoines of saint Augustin. The construction of this abbey had begun before 1116, under the direction of his/her father and his mother, Hermann Ier de Brisgau and Judith de Backnang-Sulichgau. In 1116, the Pope Pascal Ier confirmed the foundation of it.

Hermann II of Bade belonged to the first branch of the Maison of Bade itself resulting from the first branch of the dynasty of the Habsbourg.

Hermann II of Bade was buried in the abbey of Backnang.

On his tomb stone one can read: “ In this tomb, the count Hermann de Bade, founder of this monastery and this temple, is. It died there in the year thousand hundred and thirty ”. (Parish Source of Backnang).
