Hermann August Hagen

Hermann August Hagen is a American Entomologiste of origin German E, born the August 30th 1817 with Königsberg and dead the November 9th 1893 with Cambridge with the the United States.

He is the son of Carl Heinrich Hagen and Anna born Linck. He obtains a title of doctor in Médecine at the university of Königsberg in 1840. It Marie with Johanna Maria Gerhards in 1851.

It settles with the the United States in 1867. It develops the department of Entomologie with the Museum off Comparative Zoology of Harvard. It becomes, in 1870, the first professor of entomology in an American university.

Hagen is member of several learned societies of which the American Academy off Arts and Sciences, the American Philosophical Society and the Entomological American Society.

He is the author of Monographie der Termiten (1855-1860), Synopsis off North American Neuroptera (1861), Bibliotheca Entomologica (1862-1863).
