Hercules Ier d\' Este

Hercules Ier d' Este (known as also Hercules de Ferrare , in Italian Ercole di Ferrara ), born the October 26th 1431 with Ferrare and dead the June 15th 1505 with Ferrare, was one of the legitimate children of Nicolas III of Este, marquis de Ferrare, of Modena and Reggio.

It succeeded his half-brother Borso d' Este the August 20th 1471 as a Duc of these cities. Hercules supported the economic and cultural flowering of his duchies. He made transform and to extend Ferrare, starting from 1490, by the architect Biagio Rossetti (1447 - 1516), which, on the basis of medieval urban heart, built right roads for the first time in Europe.

He was the father of Isabelle d' Este and Béatrice d' Este.

His/her son Alphonse succeeded to him.
