Herblay

Herblay is a common French, located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Herblaysien () S or Herblaisien () S.

Geography

Located on Right Bank of the the Seine, in extreme cases of the Yvelines, Herblay is bordering on the Hoop-on-Seine, Cormeilles-in-Parisis, Montigny-the-Cormeilles, Pierrelaye, Saint-Ouen-the Alms, Éragny, Conflans-Holy-Honorine, Achères.

The commune is served by a station of the line Paris - Conflans-Holy-Honorine.

History

Heraldic

Origins

Known under the names of Arbrelidum (754), Erblay, Arblay. Seigniory of the abbots of Saint-Denis and the Chapter of Notre-Dame de Paris, stronghold of Jean of Beauvais at the 14th century, seigniory of Chumont at the next century then, the 16th century, of Ailegrin.
Beautiful church of the 12th century (Saint Martin's day, classified historic building the July 6th 1925), built on the site of a necropolis mérovingienne.
