Herbert IV of Vermandois

Herbert IV of Vermandois , born towards 1032, died towards 1080, was count de Vermandois of 1045 with 1080 and count de Valois of 1077 with 1080. It was wire of Otton de Vermandois, count de Vermandois, and of Pavia de Ham.

It succeeds his father in 1045, is quoted at the time of the sacring of the king Philippe Ier and inherits into 1077 part of the strongholds of his brother-in-law Simon de Valois.

He had married towards 1060 Alix, girl of Raoul IV, count de Vexin, of Valois and of Amiens. They had:

  • Eudes, known as the foolish one, died after 1085, which was disinherited by his/her father.
  • Adelaide (v.1062 † 1122), married about 1080 with Hugues Ier Large the (v.1057 † 1102), count de Vermandois and of Valois, wire of Henri Ier, king de France and of Anne of Kiev.
