Herbert II of Troyes
Herbert IV of Vermandois , known as the Young person born towards 950, died in 995, was count de Meaux ( Herbert III ) and of Troyes ( Herbert Ier ) of 966 with 995 and count of Omois ( Herbert IV ) of 984 with 995. It was wire of Robert Ier, count de Meaux and of Troyes, and Adelaide Werra.
He inherits the fields of his father into 966, then receives those of his uncle Herbert III the Old man, count d' Omois. Partisan of the king Lothaire de France, it assisted it at the time of the conquest of the High-Lotharingie and kept captive Godefroy the Prisoner, count de Verdun. In 987, with died of Louis V, it supported Charles of Low-Lotharingie, probably its brother-in-law, and was combined with Eudes Ier of Blois.
Marriage and children
The history did not preserve the name of his wife, nor her family origin. On the basis of first name allotted to his son, there are three possible assumptions:- downward of the count lotharingien Etienne, combined towards 900 with Gerard, count de Metz,
- downward of Etienne, count de Bourges towards 860,
- a girl of the count Etienne de Gévaudan.
Herbert had as wire:
- Etienne Ier († v. 1020), count de Troyes, of Meaux, of Vitry and Omois
