Herbert II of Maine
Herbert II , dead the March 9th 1062, was count of Maine of 1051 with 1062. It was of the family of the Hugonide S, wire of Hugues IV, count of Maine, and Berthe of Blois.
As of the death of Hugues IV, Geoffroy II Martel, count d' Anjou occupies Maine, drives out Berthe of Blois and the bishop of Mans, Gervais de Château of the Dormouse, which takes refuge at the court of Normandy.
In 1056, Herbert II escapes from Mans and also takes refuge at the court of William the Conqueror, duke of Normandy. His/her Marguerite sister is promised in marriage to Robert Courteheuse, the oldest son of Guillaume, and Herbert priest homage to Guillaume for Maine and declares it his heir. He dies in 1062.
