Henry Torrès
Henry Torrès , is a lawyer, Dramatic author, Journaliste, Député and Senator born the October 17th 1891 with the Andelys (the Eure) and deceased the January 4th 1966 with Paris.
Emblematic figure of the left , it is known, amongst other things, to have defended in 1927 Samuel Schwartzbard, assassin of Simon Petlioura, Ukrainian Socialiste , freedom fighter, whom it considered many responsible for Pogroms.
He was the mentor of Robert Badinter at the beginnings of the lawyer career of this last.
Chronology
- 1920: Henry Torrès joined the French Communist party at the time of the Congrès of Turns
- 1923: he obtains the payment of the anarchist Germaine Berton, judged for the assassination, that she had recognized, of the person in charge monarchist of the French Action, Marius Plateau.
- 1924 : it defends the Italian anarchist Ernesto Bonomini, assassin of Nicola Bonservizi one of the representatives of the Italian Fascisme in France.
- 1927 : it makes release, with the support of Louis Lecoin and Sebastien Faure, the Anarchistes Francisco Ascaso Abadia, Buenaventura Durruti and Gregorio Jover.
- Appointed (left independent) of the Alpes-Maritimes (1932-1936)
- 1948: senator of the the Seine of the Social republicans (fine of mandate in 1958)
- 1966: he is opposed, with others, in the columns of the Libertarian Monde , with the arrest of the Spanish republicans in exile.
