Maurice Renard is a writer French born the February 28th 1875 with Châlons-sur-Marne and dead the November 18th 1939 with Rochefort.
Biography
If it is born with Châlons-sur-Marne in a middle-class family, it is with Rheims, where his/her father, magistrate, were named president of the magistrates' court the year of his birth, that Maurice Renard passes his childhood, rythmée by stays of summer to Hermonville, where his/her grandparents have the Saint-Rémy castle (destroyed in 1918), and where the family occupies in the vast park a small house, the Saint-Vincent field. Only boy and by far the youngest child of three children, he is a solitary child, cherished by his parents, marked by his readings - Charles Dickens, Edgar Poe in particular - and by the mannequins of the store of hosiery of his grandparents in Rheims.
End 1886, Maurice Renard is internal School Monge, 145 Boulevard Malesherbes in Paris, before returning to Rheims in 1892, with the college of the Good-Children. In 1894, it obtains its baccalaureat in letters and philosophy. It carries out three years of service soldier in Rheims (1896 - 1899) with the rank of sergeant, during which it discovers Herbert George Wells. In 1899, it settles with Paris and fact of the studies of right which it gives up soon to devote to the literature.
It publishes a homage to Victor Hugo, read with the Comédie-Française. Then, under the pseudonym of Vincent Saint-Vincent (it chooses a pseudonym not to be confused with Jules Renard, but gives up it by discovering that it is about a real patronym), he publishes its first collection of tales Fantômes and fantoches in 1905, fruit of various inspirations, where one notes the influence of Herbert George Wells, in holidays of Mr Dupont , and a Jurassic Park before the letter.
In 1903, it marries Stéphanie Built. The couple will have four children: Renaud (born in 1904), Remi (1905-1977), Cyril (born in 1915, Daniel (deceased in 18 months in 1919)). It settles initially n° 85 Avenue Kléber then, in February 1910, moves in n° 8 Rue of Tournon. Famous hosts attend his living room: Colette, Pierre Benoit, Henry de Montherlant inter alia.
The first novel of Fox appears in 1908, Doctor Lerne , dedicated to H.G. Wells, on the topic of the insane scientist, followed by the motionless voyage in 1909. It publishes the blue Danger in 1912, novel noticed by Louis Pergaud. It founds the poetic review the French life and publishes Mister d' Outremort and other singular stories in 1913.
It takes part in the First World War of 1914 at beginning 1919 as officer of cavalry.
Its novel the Hands of Orlac appears in serial in 1920, it will be adapted several times to the cinema. Publication of the man faked in 1921, of a man at the microbes in 1928.
Maurice Renard divorces in 1930 and remarie.
Starting from 1935, Renard publishes many news and serials in various daily newspapers and becomes vice-president of the Société of the Men of letters.
He dies of the continuations of an surgical operation with Rochefort in 1939. He rests with the island of Oléron.
