Henry Herbert Donaldson , born the May 12th 1857 with Yonkers in the State of New York, deceased the January 23rd 1938 with Philadelphia, was a American Neuroscientifique .

Biography

Wire of a banker, John J. Donaldson and of Louisa Goddard born McGowan, expressing rather early aptitudes for sciences, it makes its studies with the Université Yale where it obtains his Bachelor off Arts in 1879. It enters in 1881 to the medical school and of surgery (the College off Physician and Surgeons ) of Columbia. Then not having finished its studies of medicine it however obtains a station at the institute of biology to the Université Johns Hopkins of Baltimore (1883-1884). After obtaining sound pH. D. in 1885 at the university Johns Hopkins, it studied the Neuroanatomie in Europe, in particular near Auguste Forel.

Of return to the United States, he works as professor associated with psychology in Baltimore (1887-1888), then as professor of neurology to the Université Clark (1889-1892), professor and director of the department of neurology of the Université of Chicago (1892-1898), before joining, the Institut Wistar of Philadelphia where he exerts as a professor of neurology and a research director (as from 1906). It Marie with Emma Brace, on April 6th, 1907.

It is known to have contributed to create the first breeding of albino rats used as a model organization, thus creating celebrates it line of Wistar rats after multiple selections.
