Henrik Sundström
Henrik Sundström is a former tennis player Swedish born the February 29th 1964 with Lund, domiciled with Bjarred. Cut 1 meter 86. It gained five professional tournaments - all on beaten ground - and disputed 8 finales. Its career was crowned by a victory in Coupe Davis vis-a-vis the the United States in 1984. It reached the 6th place of the world classification of ATP the October 8th 1984. It belongs to this generation of Swedish players who appeared on the professional circuit following Björn Borg and among which appeared Mats Wilander, Joakim Nyström, Anders Jarryd, Mikael Pernfors and Stefan Edberg.
Passed professional in 1981, Henrik Sundström reached the first final of a tournament of the circuit of ATP to Bastad the July 12th 1982 vis-a-vis its compatriot Mats Wilander. It gained a first victory then the March 21st 1983 with the tournament of Nice by beating the Spaniard Manuel Orantes in all end of a career. It is in 1984 that Henrik Sundström carried out its best season with three victories over the circuit, of which one with Monte Carlo vis-a-vis Mats Wilander, and a quarterfinal of the Internationaux of France vis-a-vis the American veteran Jimmy Connors. It contributed largely to the victory of its country finally of the Coupe Davis during which it beat the Americans Jimmy Arias and John McEnroe.
In 1986, Henrik Sundstöm gained a last tournament of ATP to Athens, but it did not find then any more its level of the season 1984. It put an end to its short professional path after having disputed only three official matches in 1988 and 1989.
