Henrietta is a city located in the county of Monroe, State of New York, the United States. The census of 2000 indicated a population of: 39028 inhabitants. Densité : 425,6  hab/km ² (1  102,2  hab/mi ²). Surface totale : 92,2  km ² (0,2  semi ²). Coordinates géographiques :.

History

In the beginning, the city belonged to the town of Pittsford. Prevented from taking part in a vote, the inhabitants made secession in 1818. They named the city in homage to Henrietta Laura Pulteney, duchess of Bath, England, girl of the investor William Johnstone Pulteney, who had bought vast portions of ground in this part of the State.

The first pioneers arrived in the Années 1790 but the settlement really began only in 1806, especially by British immigrants . At the time, the community saw agriculture and wood. The first school sees the day in 1809.

The city is the seat of the Rochester Institute off Technology. Nowadays, Henrietta is suburbs of Rochester, chief town of the county.

Antoinette Brown Blackwell, the first woman to be ordered priest in the United States, was born in Henrietta on May 20th 1825.
