Henri Poles
Henri Pollès is a writer French born the July 13rd 1909 with Tréguier (Coast-with Armor). Wire of peasants, there will remain always attached to the Breton popular environment about which he spoke the language. In 1919, he emigrates with his family in Nantes where his/her father is named engineer with navigation. The Henri young person made there his secondary studies while returning, each summer, towards its birthplace where it will be inspired for its first novel and the characters by his work. In 1926, it obtained its baccalaureat and undertook studies of philosophy in Paris.
Its first novel, Sophie de Tréguier , published in 1932 with NRF was unanimously greeted by the critic and the to him Prix of the populist novel is worth the following year. Parallel to its literary life, Pollès engages a time in the political debate and journalism since of 1933 to 1936, he collaborated in the newspaper Giustizia E Libertà , publication Italy against the Fascisme and made a report on the Spain for the magazine Friday . In 1939, it Marie with Paulette Bellour, of which he will have four children. In 1945, it misses by little the Prix Goncourt with Any war is done the night . In fact, it will still miss the Goncourt price in 1963 and 1964 with, respectively, Amour, my soft dead and the Son of the author. Knowing days of misery, disappointed literary little of success and to have several times missed Goncourt, Henri Pollès put his literary career on side and became broker in books, at the same time to have a stable income and to appease his great passion of collector. Ca is only after almost twenty years of silence, in 1982, qu ' it again published a novel On the river of blood comes sometimes a beautiful ship which was worth the price to him Paul Morand of the French Academy. It is deceased the September 30th 1994 in the fire of its house and its body is buried in the cemetery of Tréguier.
Lit bibliophile, Henri Pollès had an impressive collection of works. 30.000 of its books were the subject of a gift in 1988 at the town of Rennes, thus saving part of its priceless collection of the flames which later devastated its apartment. This gift is perpetually exposed in the library of Rennes, where a small museum is devoted to him.
