Henri Namphy

Henri Namphy , born the November 2nd 1932 with Port-au-Prince was a general and a former Head of Haitian State .

Called “Ti-blan”, he was president of the February 6th 1986 with the February 7th 1988 under two different modes which one called “the Duvaliérisme without Duvalier”.

First National council of Government

At the beginning of Jean-Claude Duvalier was established a National council of Government which lasted of the February 6th 1986 with the March 20th 1986. This Junte civilo-soldier was made of:
  • General Henri Namphy (which was the president)
  • Colonel William Regala
  • Colonel max Valles
  • Colonel Prosper April
  • Maître Gerard Gourgue
  • Alix Cinéas

Some claim that it is J.C Duvalier itself which formed this council.

Second National council of Government

It lasted of the March 21st 1986 with the February 7th 1988 and was composed of
  • Général Henri Namphy (president)
  • William Regala
  • Jacques A. François

This second version of the CNG saw the day following the resignation of Master Gerard Gourgue the March 20th and of the departure of the colonels Prosper April and max Vallès, and of Jean-Baptiste Cinéas.

Without to be elected, Namphy maintained the dictatorship and was replaced by the president Leslie François Manigat to whom it yielded the capacity under doubtful conditions following the election of the January 17th 1988.

Return to the capacity

When president Manigat shut down for insubordination a few months after his accession with the capacity, the Namphy general took again the capacity at the time of a coup d'etat. There remained there June 20th with the September 17th 1988, when he was in his turn victim of a coup d'etat organized by the general Prosper April.
