Henri Membertou
Henri Membertou was the sakmow (big boss) of the tribe of the First nations of the Mi' kmaqs close to Port-Royal, in Nova Scotia current, localization of the first French colony in Acadie, after the failure of the Île Holy-Cross. Initially, sakmow of Kespukwitk - its area, it was indicated sakmok by the sakmowk of the others six areas.
Chef Membertou was the first indigenous chief to be itself made baptize in News-France. He was baptized on June 24th, 1610 with 21 members of his family. He dies in 1611.
