Faithful of monarchy

After forty years in the armies of the king, the general of Boissieu becomes suspect under the Révolution. “the old soldier cannot support this humiliating situation a long time. We initially see it running to Tileries, and flying to the defense of the king, in this bloody night of August 10th when, betrayed by gunners of the national guard, the Swiss ones and the faithful gentlemen were pitilessly massacred by the sectionnaires and the Marseillais. The assassination of the marquis de Mandat, ordered by the mayor of Paris Pétion, made pass the command of Tileries to Mr. de Boissieu, oldest of its rank. Any resistance having been broken, the defenders of the king, killed or dispersed, the general was seen reduced to accompany the royal family, Mrs Elisabeth with her arm, asylum without safety which the assembly of the representatives of the people offered to him. ” (Maxime de Causans, two generals of Boissieu , Puy, 1890, page 301).

The general of Boissieu emigrates then and joined the first army of the emigrated with Coblenz. He takes part in the royalist Débarquement of Quiberon into 1795 which turned quickly to the disaster: “when the republican pomegranates sprang out of their cutting off to complete the work of their balls, the defense of the royal army became a rout. However, the last battalion of the regiment of Hervilly, ordered by Mr. de Boissieu, brigadier, made a very beautiful capacity and covered the retirement. The intrepid chief who contributed thus to the hello of the army, was seriously wounded, and when it had completed his work, it expired as a workman whose task is accomplished. ” (Alfred Nettement, quoted by Maxime de Causans). Its name (Cte de Boissieux) is one of the 952 registered voters on the monument of the sepulchral vault of Auray.
