Henri Labrie
Henri Labrie (1911 - 2006), born with Mount-Pretty, Quebec, Canada, was useful like Canadian in the regiment of Maisonneuve in Germany, in Holland, Belgium and France during the Second world war.
Before war
Born Mount-Pretty in December 1911 with in the area from the Low-St-Laurent, Henri Labrie filled several civil post offices before undertaking a military career into 1932 within the Fusiliers of the St. Lawrence (Armed Canadian).
Second world war
With the preludes of the Second world war, Henri Labrie is promoted with the rank of Major and is affected with the “Camp 55” where it trains several soldiers. In 1942, he sees himself entrusting the command of “Camp 55” for then undertaking the crossing of the Atlantic.
In England, it is affected in the regiment of Maisonneuve. It is then called has to take an active part in several battles in Germany, in Holland, Belgium and France where it was seriously wounded by glares of a shell drawn from a German gun dissimulated in a bell-tower of a church. After its convalescence in England, it is integrated into the military administration where it is then destined for côtoyer famous American Général George Patton at the general headquarter of the Third (3rd) American Armée.
After war
After the war, Henri Labrie is promoted with the rank of Lieutnant-Colonel and takes the commander of the Fusiliers of the St. Lawrence. He occupied this station of 1947 to 1951. Then, he will be honorary Lieutenant-Colonel, then honorary Colonel of 1974 to 1984.
In its civil life, it directed the Company of Mongrel, one of the companies of the business man rimouskois Jules has. - Shining (Company of being able of the Low-Saint-Laurent). Before taking its retirement, it is named with the board of directors of Quebec-Telephone (today Telus).
Colonel Labrie was regarded as a true alive memory of the history of Rimouski. He is deceased on October 31st, 2006 at the 94 years age.
