Henri Kagan

Henri Kagan , born in 1930 with Boulogne-Billancourt, is a French chemist.

He makes his studies with the Sorbonne and the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of chemistry of Paris and prepares his thesis of doctorate under the direction of J. Jacques to the Collège de France. In 1967, it creates its group of research to the Université Paris-South where it makes all its career. It is there currently Professor emeritus.

Henri Kagan is recognized as one of the pioneers of the fields of the asymmetrical Catalyze and of the use of the Lanthanide S in organic synthesis. Its discoveries had a considerable impact on the processes used in the Drug company.

There was a controversy in 2001 when the Nobel Prize of Chemistry was not decreed in Kagan but with Barry Sharpless, with Ryoji Noyori and William S. Knowles, for work on the catalysis in asymmetrical synthesis. The Nobel Prize cannot be decreed with more than three people.

Henri Kagan is member of the Academy of Science and received many distinctions.
