Henri Jules Battles

Henri Jules Bataille (born the September 6th 1816 with the Borough-D' Oisans, Isere - died the January 10th 1882 with Paris) was a French soldier of the 19th century, which was Major general of infantry and Grand Cross of the Légion of honor.
Biography
Henri Jules Bataille made his traditional studies with the military royal Collège of the Arrow. Entered to Saint-Cyr military school the November 16th 1834, it left there, in October 1836, second lieutenant with the 22° of line. The January 30th 1839, it was embarked with its regiment for the Algérie where it remained, first once, until the September 10th 1831. Lieutenant the May 25th 1840, captain the March 12th 1843, it passed, the February 9th 1847, as executive officer with the 2nd regiment of the Foreign legion. In 1849, it made the seat of Zaatcha and took part in the countryside of Kabylie in 1850, and in particular the June 24th at the Blessed-Habibi, it accepted the December 12th the cross of chevalier of the Legion of Honor. It made second a four years stay, until September 1857, during which it gained the cross of officer, who to him was given the June 12th 1856. Colonel of the 45e of line the February 7th 1854, it continued to remain in Algeria, shift and often in forwarding.
The August 12th 1857, it was promoted Brigadier general and envoy, in April 1859, with the 3rd army corps of Italy. It took part in the Bataille of Magenta. The August 16th 1866, it was named Major general. In 1870, it was with the great battles of August, had with Gravelotte two horses killed under him.
