Henri Ier of Savoy-Nemours

Henri 1st of Savoy-Nemours , born with Paris on November 2nd, 1572, died in Paris on July 10th, 1632, is duke of Geneva and of Nemours of 1595 with 1632, and duke of Aumale of 1618 with 1632. He is the son junior by Jacques, duke of Geneva and Nemours, and Anne d' Este.

Known under the name of marquis de Saint-Sorlin , it receives in 1588 of his cousin Charles-Emmanuel {{Ier}}, duke of Savoy the command of an army with which it conquers the marquisat Saluces. It joined then the Ligue which appoints it governor of the Dauphiné in 1591. It joins with Henri {{IV}} in 1594 and inherits with dead sound brother the duchies Geneva and Nemours. It announces in 1597 to the seat of Amiens.

He marries on April 18th, 1618 Anne of Lorraine (1600 † 1632), duchess of Aumale, girl of Charles {{Ier}} of Lorraine, duke of Aumale, and Lorraine-Tweed Marie. On this occasion, the king returns the duchy of Aumale to him which it had confiscated in 1595. Henri and Anne have:

  • Louis (1615 † 1641), duke of Nemours and Aumale
  • François Paul (1619 † 1627)
  • Charles Amédée (1624 † 1652), duke of Nemours and Aumale
  • Henri {{II}} (1625 † 1659), archbishop of Rheims, then duke of Nemours and Aumale
