Henri Ier of Bavaria
Henri 1st , born towards 920, dead on November 1st, 955, is duke of Lotharingie in 940 then of Bavaria of 945 with 955.
Biography
It is wire of Henri {{Ier}} the Bird-catcher, king de Germanie and of Mathilde de Ringelheim.
In 938, he revolts with Eberhard de Franconie and his brother-in-law Gislebert, duke of Lotharingie, against his brother Otton {{Ier}}. They are overcome, killed Gislebert, and Henri takes refuge at the court of Louis {{IV}} of Overseas, king de France.
He ends up reconciling himself with his brother who gives him the duchy of revolted (940), but he cannot establish his authority vis-a-vis the Lorraine barons and loses his duchy, which Otton gives to the count de Verdun. Henri seeks to make assassinate his brother, but the plot is discovered and imprisoned Henri.
In 945, with died of the duke of Bavaria Berthold {{Ier}}, paternal uncle of his wife, it is named duke of Bavaria.
Descent
He marries in 938 Judith (925 † 987), girl of Arnulf the Bad, duke of Bavaria. They have three children:
- Gerberge (940 † 1001), abbess with Gandersheim
- Hedwige († 994), married to Bouchard de Souabe († 973)
- Henri {{II}} the Quarreller (948 † 995), duke of Bavaria
