Henri Ier de Montmorency
Henri 1st of Montmorency , duke of Montmorency, born on June 15th, 1534 and dead on April 2nd, 1614, is a French soldier. He is the son of the constable Anne de Montmorency and of Madeleine of Savoy. He is itself Connétable of France.
Biography
Lord of Damville to his birth, it becomes then with dead of sound brother, duke of Montmorency, count of Dammartin and of Alais, baron de Châteaubriant, lord of Chantilly and Écouen and governor of the Languedoc as from 1563, Marshal of France in 1567.
More and more near to the Protestant , it becomes one of the chiefs of the party of the Policies, opposed to the League and the Spanish influence. Thus, after the Massacre of the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre, it makes alliance with the Protestants of Languedoc, to guarantee freedom of worship to them, and to preserve its place. It is protected by its Albanian guard. When the king Henri {{III}} request his tender, it refuses, and takes the offensive: catch of Saint-Gilles, Acute-Dead (January 12th, 1574.
In 1576, it joined the party of the king, against the promise to obtain the Marquisat de Saluces in Italy. Montpellier is raised then against this treason, and it besieges it in 1576-1577.
Later, it fights with Henri de Navarre which, become king under the name of Henri V, names it Connétable of France in 1593.
Descent
In June 1558, it marries, with the Château of Écouen (Val-d'Oise), Antoinette of Marck, girl of Robert {{IV}}, with which it has a girl:
In 1593, it remarie with Louise de Budos, with which he has two children:
- Charlotte-Marguerite (May 11th, 1594 - December 2nd, 1650), married to Henri {{II}}, prince de Condé
- Henri {{II}}, (1595 - October 30th, 1632).
