Henri Ier (born the May 4th 1008 - died the August 4th 1060 with Vitry-aux-Loges, close to Orleans), was king of the Francs of 1031 with 1060.
Biography
He was the third king of the dynasty known as of the direct Capétiens, wire of Robert the Piles and Constance of Arles (cf ascent on 3 degrees).
Crowned king of living of his father on May 14th 1027 with Rheims, it succeeded to him in 1031 but had to face the hostility of his/her mother and large vassal which wanted to make assemble his/her younger brother Robert on the throne. Henri Ier, obtained the support of the Germanic Roman Emperor Conrad II and especially that of the duke of Normandy Robert Splendid the, to obtain peace it had to yield to his brother the Duché of Burgundy like Apanage.
Tutor of Guillaume I {{er}}, Conquering future, duke of Normandy, it initially supported it against his vassal (Bataille of the Valley-be-Dunes) then scrambled himself with him, Guillaume overcame it with Mortemer in 1054 then four years later with Varaville.
The reign of this king fighter and quarreller was a long succession of bloody fights. It lost the Burgundy and gained only the Sénonais.
It is during this difficult period that the French bishops proclaim the Paix of God, then the Truce of God.
He is promised in marriage to Mathilda (v. 1027 - 1034), a girl of the emperor Conrad II Salic the, but this one finds death at the seven years age.
In 1034, it marries in first weddings Mathilde de Frise, (1027 - 1044), girl of Luidolf de Frise.
In 1051, it marries in second weddings Anne, girl of Iaroslav Wise the, large-prince of Kiev, and Ingigerd of Norway. Their oldest son, associated with the throne in 1059, will succeed his father under the name of Philippe I {{er}}.
