Henri III of Castille

Henri III (October 4th 1379 - 1406), sometimes called Henri Morbid the or Henri the Disabled person was king de Castille and León of 1390 to its death. It succeeded his father Jean I {{er}}.

Henri was born with Burgos, the capital of the Royaume of Castille in 1379. During its youth, it carried the title of Prince of Asturies. It reached the throne at 11 years but did not exert an influence on the businesses of the kingdom before to have reached 14 years. He managed to subject the nobility and to restore the royal capacity. During its reign, the fleet Castilian gained several victories against the English. In 1400, Henri ordered with his fleet to destroy Tétouan, a base Pirate in North Africa. In 1402, Henri undertook the colonization of the Canary islands by sending the French explorer to it Jean de Béthencourt. It also sent an embassy near Tamerlan.

In 1388, Henri married Catherine of Lancaster, the girl of Jean of Ghent, duke of Lancaster and his second wife Constance of Castille which was the older sister of Pierre I {{er}} of Castille. This fine marriage put at a dynastic conflict and reinforced the capacity of the Maison of Trastamare. Henri III died in 1406 with Tolède. His/her son, Jean II, succeeded to him. Catherine was regent during the first years of her reign.
