Henri Guillemin

Henri Guillemin , historian and French polemist anticonformist, born the March 19th 1903 with Mâcon and deceased the May 4th 1992 with Swiss Neuchâtel in . It is initially raises with the college Lamartine of Mâcon before integrating the Lycée of the Park of Lyon. Entered to the National university (27e on 30), it binds friendship with Jean-Paul Sartre then becomes the secretary of Marc Sangnier in 1923 and resolutely engages in favor of the social Catholicisme.

After having obtained its arts aggregation in 1927, it devotes its thesis to Lamartine, sign during two years at the university of the Cairo before being named with Bordeaux. He flees the France in 1942 and takes refuge in Suisse with Neuchâtel. After the Second world war, it becomes attached cultural to the embassy of France of Bern (until in 1962). It will share then its life between the France and the Suisse.

Narrator except par, it excelled in the art of the conference and recorded several Documentaires historical for the Swiss Télévision (in particular Jean Jaurès in 1962 and Jeanne d' Arc in 1970).

Work

Henri Guillemin was specialist in the 19th century, in particular in Napoleon, the Third Republic incipient and the relations between the Église and the State from the Concordat with the separation in 1905. He in particular completed important work on Lamartine, Victor Hugo, the Guerre of 1870 between the France and the Prussia, like on various touching subjects with the Third Republic. Very eclectic, its work is interested as much in great revolutionary figures as with " monuments" arts persons who it does not fear of " bousculer". One reproached him besides for destroying great names by small means. Of its " blows of cœur" , brings out the portrait of Guillemin anticlerical, Christian of left and demanding in its admirations.
