Henri Ghéon

Henri Vangeon , in literature Henri Ghéon , born with the Bray-on-Seine (Seine-et-Marne) the March 15th 1875 and dead the June 13rd 1944, is a French doctor and writer, at the same time poet, dramatic author and critical literary.

It makes its secondary studies with Sens and comes to Paris in 1893 to undertake studies of medicine. It launches out in parallel in a literary career, by writing poems rented by Francis James and Mallarmé and by publishing criticisms in reviews of avant-garde. In 1897 it makes the meeting of André Gide, which will become his/her friend, close friend, and his literary guide during nearly twenty years. Its correspondence with Andre Gide, in particular in VOLUME 1, reveals the " frasques" of the two accomplices of the NRF.

In 1909, it belongs to the founders of NRF.

But the First World War will change the orientation of its life and, partly, its career. Engaged as doctor on the face of Belgium, it will recover the catholic faith. Consequently, and with the passing of time, its work will be described as " mineure" like the result of the dramas of Large the War.

the Man born of the war ”, to take again the title given to the account of its conversion, from now on will put its art at the service of God. He dies on June 13rd, 1944, in the general indifference, a few days after the unloading of the Allies.
