Henri Gauby

Henri Gauby is a French producer of rock'n'roll (1964-2003).

Character emblematic of the scene rock'n'roll of Aix-en-Provence and Marseilles, it revolved in the world of the disc and the music as a salesman, chronicler of rock'n'roll and a producer, under the label " Henry Gauby Productions" , of local groups new wave, Rock'n'roll and garage of 1982 at the date of its death in Marseilles at the hospital Holy Marguerite.

Devoting the essence of its economies (modest sums all) to its passion of the music, it produced the group inhabitant of Aix Hôtel of north, the Lyons group Tales with the influences Doors, the vauclusiens of Presence, the Marseillais Bootleggers with the roots rock'n'roll, the hendrixien Still Life then very the Garage The Needs with the assistance of the keyboard of the Vietnam Veterans, Lucas Trouble.

Friend of Steve Wynn guitarist and singer of the Dream Syndicate which yielded to Needs, the piece Smooth , Henry Gauby left on the occasion in European round with him to Holland and Germany, as a privileged witness.

At the time of stays in the USA in the years 1980, it had the occasion to meet Randy California, the legendary guitarist of Spirit and to attend the first concerts of a bruitist group then unknown in Europe of the name of Nirvana. It côtoya also, on the occasion, Rudi Protrudi, the immense singer and leader of the Fuzztones.

Its integrity and its enthusiasm towards the myth rock'n'roll as its encyclopedic knowledge forced the respect of those which côtoyaient it in spite of a not very inclined whole character with the diplomacy and a lifestyle sometimes inspired of its purest idols (Tommy Bolin, Stiv Bators inter alia).

In 2005 in Marseilles, a concert entitled " Dead servant boys never rust" Needs reformed on this occasion and accompanied in first part by Still Life paid homage to this personality which, on its modest level, did not maintain less the flame rock'n'roll during 20 years in the south of France leaving about fifteen productions (45 turns, LP, Cd included/understood) of a good level and stripped of any compromising.
