Henri Ernest Baillon is a Botaniste and a Médecin French, born the November 30th 1827 with Calais and dead the July 19th 1895 with Paris.
It obtains its diploma for the occupation of doctor in Médecine in Paris and teaches there the medical Natural history at the university starting from 1863. It becomes, later, professor of hygiene and natural history to the central École of arts and manufactures.
It is made member of the Légion of honor in 1867, member of the botanical Société of France since its origin in 1854, member of the Royal Society the April 26th 1894. He is the author of many publications of which: general Study of the group of Euphorbiacées (1858), Monograph of Buxacées and Stylocérée (1859), organogenetic Research on the female flower of Conifers (1860), Research on the organization, the development and anatomy of Caprifoliacées (1864), Adansonia, periodic collection of botanical observations (ten volumes, 1866-1870), History of the plants (thirteen volumes, 1867-1895), Dictionary of botany (four volumes, 1876-1892), Natural history of the plants of Madagascar (three volumes) and of the Treated of phanerogamic medical botany (1883-1884).
