Henri Emmanuelli

Biography

Born on May 31st, 1945 with Water-Good, it grows in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques. Resulting from an popular environment, very young orphan of father, it integrates Sciences Po Paris then enters in 1969 to the Finance company Edmond de Rothschild. Responsibilities within the PS

1988 : It is named national secretary of the Treasury and Coordination.
March 1990: Congress of Rennes: Member of the national secretariat of the PS, in charge of the Budget, the Administration and the Treasury. It contributes to make failure with the first attempt at takeover of the PS by Laurent Fabius, by supporting the motion of Pierre Mauroy and Lionel Jospin in this fratricidal fight between Jospiniens and Fabiusiens. At Fabiusiens, there are not then enough hard words to scoff the archaism at Henri Emmanuelli.
October 1990: Fabiusiens take their revenge and prevent Henri Emmanuelli from becoming president of the socialist group of the National Assembly after the entry of Louis Mermaz with the government.
June 19th, 1994: National council of the Villette: Thanks to the support of Fabiusiens, he is elected first secretary of the PS, on a purely provisional basis, after having beaten his only competitor, Jospinien Dominique Strauss-Kahn (140 votes against 64).
November 20th, 1994: With the Congress of Liévin, he is re-elected first secretary of the PS with 92,15% of the voices of the militants (supported by Laurent Fabius, Lionel Jospin, Michel Rocard, Pierre Mauroy and Jean Poperen). Jospin takes her succession in October 1995.
For the presidential election of 1995, it stands as a candidate to the candidature within the PS, but Lionel Jospin carries it at the time of the vote of the militants (65,83% for Lionel Jospin and 34,17% for Henri Emmanuelli supported, then released at the last moment by Laurent Fabius).

1974 : Henri Emmanuelli becomes member of the federation of the Moors of the PS.
