Henri Dupuy of Lome

Stanislas-Henri-Laurent Dupuy of Lome born with the Castle of Soye in Ploemeur, Morbihan the October 15th 1816 and died in Paris the 1885, is an engineer of the marine engineering and French politician.
To its exit of the Polytechnic school, it goes to England to study the last improvements of naval constructions. It publishes in 1844 a plea in favor of the steel construction, Mémoire on the construction of the iron buildings.
He is the author of many inventions in the field of the Naval construction: one owes him in particular the first linership to vapor in the world, the Napoleon , launched in 1850, the development of the process of the armor and the construction of the first truly operational Sous-marin.
During the war of 1870, it ensures the construction of balloons at the time of the head office of Paris.
He is elected member of the Academy of Science in 1866. He is appointed Morbihan of 1869 to 1870 and irremovable Senator of 1877 to 1885.
