Henri Cueco

Henri Cueco (born with Uzerche, the October 19th 1929) is artist and writer French, especially known for its paintings.

Biography

Born from Spanish father and French mother, Henri Cueco takes part in 1952 in the Living room of the Young painting. Within this group, it develops a painting whose figuration takes part in a political commitment.

As from 1962, it paints series (rivers, bathrooms, sets of adults, men red) resorting to average the techniques of the mass media: cut out figures, flat tints of color, dotted lines and stripes. It introduces into its art the critical function and the political commitment not without some humorous distance. This engagement will be also manifest from 1972 within the Coopérative of Malassis, which it founds with Lucien Fleury, Jean-Claude Latil, Michel Parré, Gerard Tisserand and Christian Zeimert. Cueco, in this figurative choice, is perhaps that which the most questioned, with its manner, painting. More recently, it returns in painting to the reason, landscapes and died natures, as the same places of the reality with which confrontation becomes increasingly difficult: painting would be this experiment of incompletion and the not-resolution.

It obtained the Price of the foundation Felix Fénéon, and the Price of the Living room of the young painting.

It is, with Patrick Besnier, Jacques Jouet, Herve Tellier, Lucas Fournier, Gerard Mordillat and others, one of the " papous" emission of France-Culture Of Papous in the head , founded by Bertrand Jerome and animated by Francoise Treussard.

Trade unionist for a long time, he is sometimes decorator of theater and cultural worker. He teaches with the Université of Paris VIII (Vincennes) and of Paris I.

Since the Eighties, he writes many tests and novels. Its novel Dialog with my gardener was adapted to the cinema in 2007 by Jean Becker. The main actors are Daniel Auteuil and Jean-Pierre Darroussin.

He is the husband of the plastician Marinette Cueco. They live the Paris region and in Corrèze (with the Pouget-with-Vigeois). They have two children, of which the musician Pablo Cueco.
