Henri Cockerel
Henri Jean Cockerel (December 14th, 1901 with Villeurbanne - April 1st, 1987 with Germain-in-Bush hammer) (known as the Magician ) was a champion of Tennis, one of famous “the Four Musketeers French” (more titrated) who dominated the tennis of the Années 1920 and of the beginning of the Années 1930. Cockerel gains eight tournaments of the Grand Slam into simple with Roland Garros, US Open and Wimbledon.
By triumphing in quarterfinals over William Tilden with the US Open in 1926, Henri Cochet prevents the American from gaining the tournament for the seventh time. Cockerel is world number one in 1928. It passes professional in 1933 and is made requalify amateur post-war period.
With the team of France of Coupe Davis, it gains 6 times the test.
It was appointed Officier of the Légion of honor in 1977, and Honorary president of the FFT.
