Biography

Course

Henri Chopin, born in 1922, starts to work before his twenty years. Whereas the German occupation settled in France, in 1942 it is mobilized by STO. Being hidden not to undergo this one, it is stopped in June 1943. Off-set in Germany, it will finish the war in company of Russian.

In 1952, released, it Marie with Jean Ratcliffe, Scottish, who makes known to him Eliot and James Joyce. The following year, it meets Altagor, the creator of the metapoesy, and he is then teacher of childhood unsuited to Saint Martin's day de Ré.

Birth of sound poetry

In 1955, following the purchase of its first magnetic tape recorder, it starts to try out a poetry body than linguistic. Meeting the Lettriste S, in 1957 it publishes its poems with the editions Caractères , directed by Maurice Lemaître. In 1959, it deals with the review Fifth Season for 16 numbers. From 1961 to 1963, it carries out radio broadcasts with Maguy Lovano, producing on Paris-Inter (today France-Inter). In 1959, it launches the poetry objectifies , which will be concretized by exposures, and the open poetry , about which it speaks in the review Fifth Season n°8. 1964, first number of the review-disc Or-Fifth Season , with in sound work Brion Gysin, Bernard Heidsieck and of itself. In 1968, whereas takes place the first sound festival of Poésie, organized by Fylkingen and the Swedish radio, being in Prague, it cannot take part in it. In 1971, French-speaking Switzerland Television diffuses its first film on the sound Poésie. In 1972, it carries out its first Hörspiel in Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne with Klaus Schöning, and a radio program with Georges Charbonnier on France-Culture. 1976, it takes part in the Conference from Tangier to Geneva, organized by Gerard-Georges Lemaire, with William Burroughs and Brion Gysin. In 1985, Jean, his wife, dies. In 1986, it settles in Paris. Then, in the years 1990, it turns over food to England near his son and of his daughter.
