Henri Casimir II of Nassau-Dietz

Henri Casimir II of Nassau-Dietz (in German Heinrich Kasimir II von Nassau-Dietz), born in 1657 with $the Hague, deceased in 1696 with Leeuwarden. He was prince de Nassau-Dietz, Stathouder of Frise, stathouder of Groningue, stathouder of Drenthe of 1664 with 1696.

Biography

Under the regency of his mother it succeeded her father (1664) like stathouder of Plank and Goringue. In 1674, it engaged in the infantry of her States. The Clippings voted in order to give to the Plank a hereditary stathouder of the House of Nassau-Dietz. In 1677, it only controlled its States.

He hated his cousin Guillaume III of Orange-Nassau, at the time of the war with the France (1672 - 1688), rejettant the authority of his cousin, he started negotiations separated with Louis XIV from France. In 1689, it was named brigadier, it took part in the battles of Fiennes and the Bataille of Steinkerque (August 3rd 1692), against the Ligue of Augsburg.

Henri Casimir II of Nassau-Dietz belonged to the sixth branch (Nassau-Dietz), itself resulting from the second branch (Nassau-Dillenbourg) of the Maison of Nassau. This line of Nassau-Dietz belonged to the stem ottonienne which gave stathouders to the Flanders, with the Frise, the Gueldre, the Holland, with the United Provinces, a king with the England and the Scotland in the person of Guillaume III of Orange-Nassau, kings and queens with the Netherlands.

Henri Casimir II of Nassau-Dietz is the ascending one of the queen Béatrix of the Netherlands.
