Henri Caillavet

Henri Caillavet is a French politician, born the February 13rd 1914 with Agen in the Lot-et-Garonne.

Career

Of formation of lawyer, Henri Caillavet had a long career Politique and Parlement surface (38 years of electoral mandates - 29 years Député or Senator of the Lot-et-Garonne).

After a brilliance university course, he is laid off be-letters and doctor of political sciences. He follows the occupation of lawyer at the Court of Bagnères-of-Bigorre. Since 1940, He is opposed to the policy Maréchal Pétain. In 1958, he is opposed to the Général de Gaulle as a voter against his nomination and the new Constitution

He leaves then the Lot-et-Garonne and is elected mayor of Bourisp (Hautes-Pyrénées) of 1959 to 1983. He presents himself to the senatorial elections in Lot-et-Garonne and is elected in June 1967. Senator of 1967 to 1983, it cumulates this mandate with that of European deputy of 1979 to 1984.
Il is illustrated in particular by the development of bills concerning the Voluntary interruption of pregnancy (IVG), the Divorce by mutual assent, the Clerc's Offices of bodies, the Tribunal of the Informatique, the Euthanasie, and also the Therapeutic eagerness. It makes also legislative proposals concerning the Homosexualité and the Transsexualisme.

It loses its mandate of senator in 1983 against Jean François-Poncet. But it contributes to launching many initiatives, like the creation of the National IT commission and freedom (CNIL) and the Think tank Réseau Voltaire. Thus it chaired the commission on the transparency and the plurality of the press (June 1985).

Several times chair Association for the right to die in dignity (ADMD), it resigns on June 23rd, 2007 of it.

It is presented in the form of a atheistic and rationalist and was integrated into the advisory National committee of ethics since 1981. In the book the invisible brothers , the journalists Renaud Lecadre and Ghislaine Ottenheimer reveal that Caillavet was a celebrity in the Grand the East of France.
