Henri Bourtayre

Henri Bourtayre (born on October 21st 1915 with Biarritz) is the author of the music of more than one thousand of songs, some having acquired from the start a very great popularity.

Biography

Henri Bourtayre starts by playing of the piano in the cabarets of Biarritz and of the Basque coast, and occurs locally in the meetings and the weddings with the singer André Dassary, whom it follows to Paris, in 1937. He is engaged soon with the editions Ray Ventura, where he become acquainted with Raymond Legrand, musician and leader, for which he will start to write starting from 1941. He gains its first great success with My old story , sung by Tino Rossi.

Almost always on words of Maurice Vandair, he writes soon for the large high-speed motorboats of the time: Andre Dassary, Tino Rossi, Maurice Knight, Georges Guétary. In 1944, Fleur of Paris has the appearance of an anthem of the Libération. The end of the Occupation reveals new high-speed motorboats for which Henri Bourtayre composes: Shine Mariano ( My beautiful with wood sleeping , 1944), Lina Margy ( the Girl with Domingo ), and especially Jacques Hélian and his orchestra, which succeeds Raymond Legrand, and of which he becomes the appointed type-setter.

Without giving up Maurice Vandair, Henri Bourtayre collaborates often at the time with a new lyric writer, Henri Kubnick, producer of radio. At the beginning of the Years 1950, Henri Bourtayre writes in particular for a newcomer in the field of the music hall, Robert Lamoureux.

Henri Bourtayre is the author of the partition of four Opérette S (of which Miss Cow-boy , 1947 and Tout for it , 1952). In this field, only the Knights of the sky (1955), with Shine Mariano, obtained a real success. One still owes in Henri Bourtayre the music of about fifty films.

Henri Bourtayre is the father of the type-setter Jean-Pierre Bourtayre, born in 1942.
