Henri Bouchard is a sculptor French, born the December 13rd 1875 with Dijon and died the November 30th 1960 with Paris. Wire of a Dijonese carpenter it enters like apprentice in a decorator and follows the courses of the School of the Art schools of its birthplace. It enters to the Académie Julian and enters the workshop of the sculptor Louis-Ernest Barrias of 1895 to 1901. In 1901 it gains the Price of Rome and visit Italy, Greece, Spain and North Africa. These years sharpen its taste for the daily life and the labor of the people of modest means. In Italy it carves peasants with work and sends to Paris in 1904 a Faucheur life size today with the Museum of the Art schools of Dijon. Of return in France it pushes with extreme its realistic approach of the simple worker then is named in 1910 professor with the Julian Academy. Its art becomes more stylized, rate/rhythm, more decorative also, it creates small decorative parts and receives many orders of monumental works and reliefs. In 1924 it was made build a workshop in Paris, current Musée Henri Bouchard (closed since March 2007. The collections are in the course of transfer to the Museum of the Swimming pool in Roubaix, the workshop of the sculptor will be rebuilt with identical, accessible to the public in 2010). In 1933 he becomes member of the Academy of the Art schools. Henri Bouchard rests with the cemetery of Aiserey (Gold Coast) with his wife Suzanne Schneller.
