Henri Bachelin
Henri Bachelin is a writer French born in 1879 with Lormes (Nievre) in the district of the Barn Balk in the house of his/her grandfather. He is deceased with Paris in 1941.
After studies with the seminar of Nevers, followed by four years in the army, he followed the occupation of bank clerk, which he gave up in 1911 to exclusively devote to the literature. He published forty books, primarily novels and news, but also of the works of literary criticism and musicology. They are often regionalistic works where it depicts the Morvan with much of tenderness as in Juliette pretty the or the Village . He is also the author of historical novels ( the Abbey-Vézelay in XIIe century , the death of Bibracte ) and of nourished psychological novels of autobiographical elements ( the Heritage , Song of the cock ). He received the Prix Femina in 1918 for the Servant , account in which he pays homage to his father. Its interest for the sacred music resulted by a novel ( Large the Organ ) and in a theoretical work of reference ( the Organ, its elements, its history, its esthetics ) written into collaboration with Alexandre Cellier. In 1925, it was charged to prepare the edition of the Journal of Jules Renard, of which it had been at his beginnings the friend and the disciple.
Although “gone up” in Paris, where he attended Charles-Louis Philippe, Jules Romains, André Gide and Paul Léautaud, there remained always very attached to its birthplace. Lormes built a bust with its memory beside the “Walks” in front of a house which he lived. It left several new manuscripts, including one Journal .
Association Henri Bachelin (President: Jean-Pierre Lacroix), whose seat is with Lormes, has the aim of making known its work.
