History

Etymology:
Hetnanicurtis, formed place name of Hetna or Henna, name of man mérovingien, and Curtis, field; This name varied thus with the passing of years: Hendecourdelle (1300); Hendecourdel (1300, 1380,1450,1457,1552,1556,1574,1578); Hendecordel (1338, 1400); Hennecourt (1500); Hendecordel Garland (1565); Hennnecordel (1723); Hendecourt (1804); Hendecourt-Lez-Ransart (XIXe and XXe S.); Hendecourt-Les-Ransart (XXe S.).

Seigniory having belonged to Mailly d' Authuyle as of 1300, it passed in 1408 by marriage to Guines de Hames then towards 1535, also by marriage in Halluin. Antoine d' Halluin sold this seigniory in Sergeant in 1578. This last family took of it the name and until in 1878 preserved it. It is known today under the name of " Sergeant d' Hendecourt" and remains in France and Belgium.

The Castle and its farm were sold in 1878 in Diesbach Belleroche, originating in Freiburg in Suisse, which still has them.

A small seigniory located also with Hendecourdel was the property of Saveuzes which sold it in 1703 in Sergeant which joined together it with principal. The family Sergeant d' Hendecourt has as a currency " WITHOUT ESTRE AM SERGENT".

The village was entirely destroyed in 1914-1918 rebuilt then. The commune is quoted with the Order of the Armée.

The first castle was probably built towards 1703 per Louis-Joseph Sergeant d' Hendecourt on the site of an old residence. Asset in 1878 per Frederic de Diesbach Belleroche. It was destroyed in 1914 - 1918 then rebuilt 1920 with 1929.

The mill of Hendecourt was dismounted in 1912.
