Hemicellulose
The hemicellulose is one of the components of the Bois which one finds in particular in wood i.e. in the trunks and the branches of Arbres, boards… It is the second component one of a pectocellulosic Paroi at the plants, after the Cellulose. It has a role of bridging between fibers of cellulose, but also with others matric compounds.
Structure
Hemicellulose is made glucidic monomers. Compared to cellulose, hemicellulose does not contain only anhydrous glucoses. For example, in addition to glucose, the monomers of hemicellulose can be Xylose, Mannose, Galactose, Rhamnose, or arabinose. Hemicellulose is mainly made D-pentoses, sometimes of laevogyrous minor amounts of oses (L). The Xylose is always the ose more represented but the acids mannuronic and galacturonic are also often present.
