Hemen
Hemen is a very old warlike god of the Egyptian Mythologie, originating in High-Egypt. He fights the forces of chaos by transpiercing his lance an hippopotamus (representing forces of the evil). It is a local god in connection with beyond. In old the Textes of the Pyramids it seems a god benefactor, guard of Osiris, which it must avenge; it then has the aspect of a harpoon and, like such, it attacks the hippopotamus of Seth. He was adored with Hefat, city located in High-Egypt, in the south of Louxor. With Asfinis it was a form of Horus. Water festivals were devoted to him which ended in the setting with dead of an hippopotamus which represented the evil and the enemy. In the Book of dead the, it is represented holding a snake in its hands. Thus Hemen has as a role to fight the forces of the evil. It was related to Isis and Nephtys of which it had a girl.
