Helped chechmate
The chechmate helped is standard of Problème of failures, i.e. of statement of problem of failures, in which the two camps collaborate to arrive at the chechmate.
Generally, one speaks about helped in N blows (h#n, for helpmate or Hilfsmatt), N being the number of blows to be achieved until the chechmate.
In this type of problem, in fact the blacks start, and those must help the white to subdue their king (black, therefore). The orthodoxe rules are however in force, thus any failure must be avoided. Attention however, owing to the fact that in fact the blacks start, the notation is reversed. Thus 1.Fb7-c8 Th2-b2+ indicates that in fact the blacks move their insane of b7 in c8 and the white their turn of H2 in b2, making failure with the king consequently occasion, all this for the first initiated blow.
A helped chechmate is regarded as a fairy-like Problème only so in addition to its particular statement it uses a fairy-like part or a fairy-like condition. When a helped chechmate complies with all the orthodoxe rules of failures, it is about a Problème hétérodoxe.
This kind illustrates very well the artistic side of the Problème of failures, since the warlike nature of the failures is replaced there by a collaboration between the two camps with an aim of producing an artistic work.
This collaboration is carried to its paroxysm in a chechmate helped Duplex, in which there are two solutions, the solution in which in fact the blacks start and help the white to subdue them and a second solution in which, this time, in fact the white begin and help the blacks with MATER.
