Helmut Schön

Helmut Schön (September 15th 1915 with Dresden - February 23rd 1996 with Wiesbaden) was a Football or then German Entraîneur. He was during 12 years the selector of the team of FRG.

Old international attacker (17 goals in 16 selections between 1937 and 1941), Schön began its career from trainer after the war. It involved in particular the Hertha Berlin and FC Cologne as well as the team of the Saar which took share with the Eliminating heats of the World cup 1954. In 1956, he became the assistant of the mythical trainer of the Nationalmannschaft, Sepp Herberger, before succeeding to him in 1964.

It remained in station until 1978. It made known in Germany one resplendent period, thanks to the appearance of a generation and players out of the commun run, such as Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Uli Hoeness or Berti Vogts. Under its cut, Germany gained a world cup in 1974 and a championship of Europe in 1972. It also lost a final of world cup in 1966 and one of cut of Europe, finale marked by famous the Panenka in 1976, vis-a-vis the Czechoslovakia

Schön holds the records of the number of matches played (25) and matches gained (16) with the head of a selection in a world cup. He is also the only trainer to have gained a world cup and a championship of Europe of the nations. ----
