Hellemmes-Lille , generally called simply Hellemmes , is an old commune of the Northern of the France, associated with Lille in April 1977. Its population rose, in 1999, with 18.371 inhabitants.

Results of the first turn of the communal elections of March 2001: People of Hellemmes, 18,68%; National front, 15,41%; Socialist party - list Bernard Derosier, 38,48%; greens, 12,91%; UDF - list Daniele Mésans, 8,08%; list RPF, 8,95%.
