Heliographic mission
The heliographic Mission is an operation controlled in 1851 by the commission of the historic buildings.
In 1851, photography is in full rise, the commission of the historic buildings, directed by Prosper Mérimée request with photographers to seize on film a series of remarkable monuments for which it envisages the restoration, or whose restoration already started as for Carcassonne with Purple-the-Duke.
